B. First Day School Mission Statement (9/14/97; revised 6/2004)

Our primary goal is for the children to feel part of an extended Quaker community, both here and throughout the world, now and historically. We want our children to learn our traditions and values, to recognize that of God in themselves and all others, to value simplicity and sufficiency, to solve problems nonviolently and to feel the value of true friendship and service.

We seek to do this through activities that involve young Friends in the larger Quaker community-planned service projects, age-appropriate classroom lessons and activities, and in an atmosphere that supports families, nurtures children’s spiritual growth and affirms their importance within the Meeting.
